1. Oral Hygiene and Care
Keep your teeth and braces clean by brushing after every meal and snack. At the beginning of your treatment, you’ll receive a Braces starter kit. We’ll give you all the tools you need to brush and care for your teeth on-the-go!
2. Avoid Hard, Sticky, and Chewy Foods
Keep your braces and appliances intact by avoiding hard, sticky, and chewy foods. Examples of these are ice, popcorn, nuts, gum, caramels, etc. You may be thinking- “but those are my favorites! What am I going to snack on?” There are plenty of options! Choose a Hershey’s chocolate bar, ice cream, cheese sticks, or soft pretzels! Don’t complicate eating with braces!
3. Regular Appointments
Keep your regular orthodontic appointments. At KCC Orthodontics, we pride ourselves on being an on-time office. We will “never leave you in the waiting room. When you schedule an appointment, you will be in a chair at that time”, according to our patient, Brian.
We respect your time and the best way you can reciprocate is to show up for your appointments as scheduled. It’s a win-win! We will both experience success!
4. Doctor’s Instructions
Comply with the doctor’s requests- wear elastics and appliances as needed. Elastic wear and appliances are unique to each patient’s treatment. Being consistent with Dr. G’s instructions will ensure that you see success with braces.
If you find that you have a poking wire or a broken bracket, we’re here to help! Our self-guided videos show you how to take care of this at home. Occasionally, you may need/want to come in to the office. In that case, we can schedule you for a quick appointment to make you more comfortable. We will keep your braces treatment on track!
5. Dental Check-ups
Keep regular dental check-ups every 3-6 months with your family dentist. KCC Orthodontics only offers orthodontic services. It is very important to maintain your oral health to see success with braces. If you need a dentist referral, we work with some amazing dentists in Katy, Texas! 6. Comfort and Convenience
To alleviate discomfort, take over-the-counter pain relievers as needed. Applying wax to brackets could also help provide relief. Our team is happy to supply you with orthodontic wax when you need it. No need to buy any- swing by our office or ask for more at your next appointment!
7. Retainer Care
Bring your retainers to your retainer checks after treatment is complete. We can’t stress the importance of retainers enough!! To protect your investment and keep your new beautiful smile, wear retainers consistently! Retainer check appointments help us monitor your consistency, confirm the retainers are fitting properly, and that your bite is settling well after orthodontic treatment.
