When a doctor monitors your Invisalign treatment, you can remain worry-free. Dr. G does not focus solely on straight teeth. He sees the mouth and bite as a whole.
Invisalign treatment requires that you wear a retainer at the end of treatment to retain your new smile. This is the case with the results of any other orthodontic treatment as well.
Retainer Wear After Invisalign
Katy ClearChoice Orthodontics includes retainers in every treatment. These maintain your newly straightened teeth. Our teeth have memory and will want to return to their previous misaligned position. Retainers are necessary to keep your results.Β
The good news is that we offer a premier retainer, made using 3D technology. Our Clinical Assistant will scan your teeth with the iTero digital scanner. This is the same process we used at the beginning of your treatment! This digital scan is then sent to the Invisalign lab to make your retainer.Β
Your retainer will arrive within a week or two. At this point, your orthodontic treatment is complete! Your 3D printed retainer is made of a plastic similar to the aligners you wore during treatment. They differ in that they are made of a more durable, longer-lasting material that can last even up to 10 years.Β
Dental Requirments After Treatment
After Invisalign treatment, there is no need to straighten your teeth again. (Unless you donβt maintain retainer wear.) Keep good oral hygiene at home andΒ continue to visit your dentist twice a year for a cleaning and check up.
Orthodontic Visits After Invisalign
Dr. Gutierrez may request you come in for two appointments after Invisalign treatment. In the beginning weeks, your bite will begin to settle in the position it ended up in. Continual retainer wear helps make this happen.Β
Retainer check appointments allow Dr. G to confirm that your bite is settling. The necessity of these appointments varies from case to case. We want to ensure the results are matching the investment you made!
