Your Invisalign journey is an adventure, and your aligners are your special tools! How many aligners you get and how long you wear them depends on your unique smile mission. We’ll give you new sets each time you visit. It’s super important to wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours every single day. That’s almost all the time, except when you’re eating or brushing. Think of your aligners as a secret superpower that only works when you wear them! If you don’t wear them enough, your teeth might not get the amazing results we’re aiming for.

Treatment Progress
You will change your aligners at home, usually every 7 days or as instructed by Dr. G. You’ll also come to see us for check-ups every 2 or 3 months. Think of these visits as pit stops to make sure your smile adventure is going perfectly.
What to Expect at your Appointments
When you come see us, it’s a quick check-up for your smile! We’ll look at how your aligners are fitting and make sure your teeth are moving just where they should be. Just remember to wear your current aligners to your appointment!
Initial Aligner Tightness
Your new aligner will feel a little tight at first, for about one or two days. This is completely normal! After that, it might feel a bit loose, but it’s still doing its job. Make sure to wear it for all the hours instructed. For the comfiest fit, try putting in your new aligner before you go to bed!
Cleaning your Aligners
Aligners can be easily cleaned with a soft-bristled toothbrush and liquid dish soap (we recommend Dawn). A few drops of vinegar in water may also help keep them crystal clear. Most over-the-counter denture cleaners also work great. Using toothpaste is not recommended as it will scratch the aligners!
Aligners in Their Cozy Home
When you’re eating or brushing, always put your aligners straight into their case. This keeps them safe! If you wrap them in a napkin, they might accidentally get tossed in the trash. Watch out for pets! If you leave your aligners on the counter, your furry friends might think they’re a fun chew toy. Keep them safe in their case!
Attachments
Sometimes, we’ll put a tiny, tooth-colored bump, called an attachment, on your tooth. Think of them like little grips that help your aligner hug your tooth tightly and move it super well! Attachments do not harm the teeth and are polished off at the end of treatment.
